JAMMU: Peeved over the disparagement and humiliation of the Jammu region based bureaucrats and the officers by the government on the behest of vested political interests, scores of Panthers activists spearheaded by Harsh Dev Singh, Chairman JKNPP staged a vociferous protest at Exhibition Ground, here on Saturday.
The agitated protesters while raising anti-BJP slogans accused the Saffron party for subjugating the Dogra mandarins on the whims and fancies of Kashmir centric forces.
Addressing the media, Harsh regretted that it had been an obnoxious trend that the civil servants and functionaries from Jammu Pradesh who rose to become echelons in the administration and bureaucracy by their sheer hard work, diligence, competence and passion were humiliated, relegated or sacked from their positions by the Government on several occasions.
“This was done by the administration after succumbing to the dictates of political forces with a discriminatory and disdainful motive to insult the Dogra officers and bureaucrats who had performed their duties with honesty, dedication and zeal. The recent removal of Dr. SP Vaid from the post of DGP is a glaring example of the biased policies of government towards Dogras. It is intolerable, unjustified and we oppose the move with grave embitterment and deep anguish”, Harsh rued.
Shocked over the sacking of Dr. SP Vaid, son of the soil and one of the most decorated Dogra officers, from the position of DGP J&K, Harsh said that the central and State Government had once again hurt the collective psyche of the people of Jammu region.
Popular for his professionalism, unblemished integrity and unbiased approach, Dr. Vaid had colossal contributions to his credit for restoration of peace in the militancy infested state besides acting as a great mentor for the entire police department.
He said that it was one of the rarest occasions when a Dogra had been assigned the task of top cop in the state and his discourteous and unmannerly ouster had belittled the entire Dogra fraternity which not only brought the morale of police force down but triggered revulsion and fury among the people.
“On the one hand the government was beating drums for its success in smooth and peaceful conduct of Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra for two consecutive months but contrarily the Police Chief who turned it into reality was removed and sidelined without any reason or justification”, dismayed Harsh said.
Among those who spoke on the occasion included Manju Singh, Adv. Kesar Parveen, Vaishno Sharma, Rajesh Padgotra, Gagan Pratap Singh, Sham Gorkha, Rampaul Sharma, Capt. Narotam Singh, Partap Singh, Nirmal Kishore, K.K Sharma, Mohinder Singh, Rohit Sharma, Sansar Chand, Naresh Sharma, Udheyveer, Ashok Chauhan besides others.
