J&K football team selected for zonal competition of Santosh Trophy posing ‘with officials at Jammu on Saturday.
JAMMU: Jammu and Kashmir Football Association (JKFA) today named the State team for upcoming North Zone competition for 72nd Santosh Trophy Football Tournament to be held at Noida in Uttar Pradesh from January 15.
Earlier, 24 selected probables underwent coaching camp at Jammu and finally 20-member team was named out of the campers by the penal of selectors. As per a handout issued by the JKFA, J&K has been placed in Pool B with Punjab, Delhi and HP.
Led by Akif Javed Reshi of district Anantnag, the team included Arun Nagial as vice captain.
Meanwhile, as per the guidelines of the All India Football Federation (AIFF) all the participating State Association are required to include a minimum of five under-21 players in their squad of 20. Furthermore, among these five, the teams have been field three compulsorily for each match.
However, the handout issued by the JKFA did not provide the names of full team heading for the zonal competition.
