JAMMU: Jammu and Kashmir defeated Jharkhand in opening group match in the 43rd Junior National Volleyball (boys and girls) Championship got underway at Paravoor Ernakulam in Kerala today.
As per the reports reaching here, placed in group-D, J and K boys shall now meet opponents from Gujarat, Kraela, Chhattisgarh and Manipur in the league round.
Earlier, Mohd Latif, Sourab Sharma and Farhad Jahangir remained in limelight for their superb display of spikes and blocks thus make it a 3-2 (25-13, 19-25, 22-25, 25-18, 15-11) win.
Meanwhile, in girls section, J and K lost to Odisha in straight sets 3-0 (25-18, 25-15, 25-18). Now, in their next outings, J and K girls shall meet Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh and Chandigarh in Pool-A.
The teams are accompanied by Ravinder Kour, Prince Mehta, Mohd Tariq, Azhar Aziz, Ajay Kumar and Rahul Kumar as officials.
President Volleyball Association of J and K, Sidharth Daluja and other office bearers sent their good wishes to J and K boys team, manager and coach for excellent performance in the opening match.
They also wished the boys and girls team for better performance in subsequent matches.
