STATE TIMES NEWS JAMMU: British Council is UK’s International Organisation for cultural relations and educational opportunities. It also creates friendly knowledge and understanding, changing lives building connections and engendering trust. It introduces international dimensions in the field of learning and helps students to develop skills in a modern, rapidly changing world with worldwide influence and impact. Dance Competitions are great opportunities to seek out new work. Students dive into unique experiences and develop their skills by participating in such events. Dance is performing art form consisting of purposefully selected sequence of human movement; this movement has aesthetic and symbolic value and is acknowledged by all. The goal of such competitions is to nurture students for teamwork, so that together they can come out of their comfort zones and encounter challenges and learn how to overcome them. With this view in mind J K Public School, Kunjwani, organised Dance Competition on International Dance Forms on Thursday, in the school premises under British Council activity. International Dance Forms promote various dance art forms, dance culture, its importance and raise awareness among students under British Council (ISA) activity. The students performed classical dance which is not only the art of quintessence of beauty, power but also an attraction to achieve divine power as well. Afghani Dance was famous by the name Attan which is a dance form that originated in Afghanistan as a folk dance usually for weddings and celebrations. Chinese Dance is highly varied art form, consisting of many modern and traditional dances. It involves rhythmic body movements combined with music and costumes. Japanese Dance has two types of movements Mai and Odori in Mai relatively simple movements, such as shuffle and a quickly paced circling on the stage, are combined and repeated, whereas Odori, has many showy movements such as leg lifts, turns and a variety of other steps. Students actively participated in this competition and showcased their dancing skills. The dancers were attired in colourful dresses twirled around and set the stage on fire with their energetic performances. The Management and Principal appreciated the zeal and enthusiasm of the participants. They also lauded the efforts and hard work of their dance teachers Priya and Madhuri in training their students for this extravaganza.
