STATE TIMES NEWSJAMMU: J K Public School celebrated 73rd Independence Day and the festival of Raksha Bandhan in the school premises, on Wednesday with religious fervour. A special Assembly was conducted by the school students. The school premise was decorated with Tricolour as a symbol of tribute to all those freedom fighters and soldiers who laid their life for the country. The event commenced with the Flag hoisting by Shashi Chaudhary, Director, JK Educational Society and S.K Singh, Principal, JKPS Kunjwani, followed by a patriotic song by the school choir. The Dance Drama “Maa Meri” by the Toddlers’ World was mesmerizing. The young kids won the hearts of the audience. The whole premises echoed with the patriotic zeal. Harshita, a student of class X, highlighted the meaning of real Independence through her speech which was followed by a dance, on the festive occasion of Raksha Bandhan, depicting the bond of love between brothers and sisters, which left the audience little emotional. Speaking on the occasion, S.K Singh, Principal, JKPS, extended his heartiest wishes to one and all. He also appreciated the efforts of the students, emphasised on the importace of celebrating the festivals and urged the students to preserve the socio-cultural heritage of the country. He motivated the students to understand the true meaning of these festivals. He congratulated the staff and students on the auspicious occasion with the message for peace and harmony. He applauded the efforts of the students for their excellent participation in the event. He stressed that such celebrations at school teach students about our traditions. He also motivated the students that festival is not only the celebration and festivity but to take good care of the surroundings in which we all survive.
