JAMMU: Jammu and Kashmir Police will be organising first ever Diwali mela in Jammu on October 15 and 16.
“A two-day Diwali Mela is going to be organised on October 15 and 16 at Gulshan Ground,” Shafqat Watali, IGP Armed on Thursday said.
He said that Deputy Chief Minister Dr Nirmal Singh will inaugurate the Mela, which will be attended by many dignitaries from police and civil administration.
Civilians are also appealed to come in large and participate in the mela, which is having a free entry, he said and added that it is being organised to extend wishes on Diwali festival besides strengthening bond with civil society and public. Various stalls will be set up on the occasion while cultural programmes will also be organised, said Watali.
