STATE TIMES NEWSJAMMU: The people of Jammu and Kashmir are pinning their hope on Prime Minister Narendra Modi for Statehood instead of Union Territory during his proposed address at Sardar Patel Statue in Gujarat on October 31, 2019. This was stated by former Minister and senior NC leader, Ajay Kumar Sadhotra in a statement issued here on Saturday. “BJP Government’s decision of Reorganization of Jammu and Kashmir State dividing it into two Union Territories has badly hurt the people especially youth. The people feel BJP has pushed them towards wall and it has led to alienation,” Sadhotra said. “It is high time and in the national interest to put check on fast growing alienation by healing the hearts and minds of the people of Jammu and Kashmir by retaining status of the State of Jammu and Kashmir instead of Union Territory,” Sadhotra added. “Did statehood ever stopped the Central and State Government to take effective measures to combat terrorism and improve situation in respective states,? Sadhotra asked. “The people of J&K are pinning hope on Prime Minister Narendra Modi for statehood in view of Prime Minister’s slogan ‘Sabka Saath Sabka Vikas-Sab Ka Vishwas’. Saath and Vishwas of the people is imperative for Peace and Vikas and in J&K it can be obtained only by retaining the status of Statehood for Jammu and Kashmir state,” he said, emphasizing need of implementing the slogan of Prime Minister in letter and Spirit.
