JAMMU: Jammu and Kashmir on Saturday defeated Tripura 8-2 on the second day of the Hockey India Seventh Junior National Hockey (Division-B) Championship underway at Aishbagh Stadium, Bhopal in Madhya Pradesh.
Placed in Pool F, J and K outplayed Tripura 8-2. Skipper Ramandeep Singh remained star striker with his five goals coming in 10th, 20th, 23rd, 39th and 61st minutes of the match. Other goals came through Gurjot Singh (16th), Simranpal Singh (57th) and Suraj Singh Jasrotia (60th). For Tripura, Sagar Chaudhary scored both the goals striking in the 30th and 35th minute.
In all, nine matches were decided on the second day of the competition. In a Pool E encounter, Madhya Pradesh registered an emphatic 30-0 victory over Andaman and Nicobar while Kerala beat Rajasthan 11-04 in group-A.
Hockey Andhra Pradesh also won their tie against Madhya Bharat beating latter 9-0 in Pool B and Services Sports Control Board recorded their second emphatic victory of the tournament beating Vidarbha Hockey Association 16-1 in pool-G.
Earlier, Puducherry beat Goans Hockey 15-01, Bengaluru beat Namdhari XI 3-2 and Punjab and
Sind Bank beat Hockey Gujarat 19-0 in late yesterday matches.
