JAMMU: Jammu and Kashmir Bank (JKB) on Saturday became the first side to qualify for the semifinals of the ongoing 11th Christmas Gold Cup Football Tournament, organised by the All J&K Christian Welfare Association at GGM Science College ground, here.
In quarterfinal, J&K Bank defeated Kanwal Sports Anantnag 2-0. The close contest witnessed a barren first half play. However, J&K Bank went ahead when Adnan brought in the first goal in 52nd minute of the game. The lead was improved by the professional side of J&K Bank with Johny Kumar netting the ball for the second goal in dying minutes.
Meanwhile, in another scheduled match, JKSRTC outplayed Jammu United FC to reach the quarterfinal stages of the competition. Shujal scored the all important goal that came in the 14th minute of the match.
Today’s matches were officiated by the technical panel including Hilal Punjabi, Rocky Sharma, Rinku Gill, Moon Stephen, Rakesh Kumar, Ricky Kumar and Mohinder Kalsi.
FIXTURE: J&K Police shall meet Shaheen FC at 1:00 PM while J&K PDC shall meet JK Bank Academy at 3:00 PM tomorrow.
