STATE TIMES NEWS HIRANAGAR: A meeting was held under the presidentship of Ch Manmohan Singh, President AIJMS J&K at Dayala Chak Tehsil Hiranagar on Friday. In the meeting, issues concerning Jat community were discussed and residents of Dayala chak participated in huge numbers. In this meeting, Ch. Manmohan Singh thanked Governor Satya Pal Malik for sanctioning the reservation for residents living within 6 kms of border area. These people, irrespective of their Biradari but based on their residential status within the 6 km of border will get 3 per cent reservation. These people are not just Jats but of other Biradaris too. He urged their Biradari heads to come forward and thank Governor for coming true to his promise. This reservation is a huge victory on the part of Jat Biradari for their survival. Ch. Manmohan said to the people present that this reservation won’t be of any use to them unless they encourage their children to study and go for jobs. The youth of our Biradari is not that inclined towards education but this responsibility falls on their parents to focus on their education and make it their priority. It was on us to get reservation but not it is our youth’s responsibility to attain education and use this reservation’s benefit. Singh said that they will request Governor to look into the remaining Biradari issues of one time settlement and ownership rights and get them resolved accordingly. Especially our long pending demand of ownership rights of custodian lands. Recently a High court Vide order: OWP No. 690/2008 MP No. 1017/2008 dated November 10, 2017, ordered the departments to tranfer the legal rights of these lands to the people. The Govt need to issue orders to implement this Court decision or they will be forgotten just like their other files. Team of AIJMS thanked the jats of Dayala Chak for the successful meeting.
