STATE TIMES NEWSJAMMU: Taking advantage of suspended internet services, Public Health Engineering (PHE) Jammu city has reportedly swindled the entire cash revenue of Rs 1.45 crore presuming that it will get unnoticed due to communication blockade. Sources informed that field staff of the PHE Department deposited Rs 1.45 crore recovery and water tax to the cashier for which he also issued receipts. But this amount was not deposited in the treasury. As internet is banned in Jammu and Kashmir, the same amount has to be deposited through treasury, but the cashier didn’t deposit the same over for months. As this amount has been swindled, the department is holding internal inquiry into the matter. Sources however informed that the efforts are being made to hush up the matter and the department is also delaying to forward the complaint to the Anti Corruption Bureau for obvious reasons.
