Jammu:- A constable of Jammu and Kashmir police was today arrested by vigilance organisation here after he was caught red-handed while allegedly accepting a bribe, an official spokesman said.
“Ram Saroop filed a complaint with the Vigilance Organisation Jammu (VOJ) against a police constable Ibrar Wani who was posted at Purmandal police station,” the spokesman said.
The accused used to threaten Ram Saroop of implicating him in a false case if he did not pay him a bribe of Rs 10,000, the spokesman added.
“After receiving the complaint, a trap was set and the victim was asked to give money to the accused. Everything was recorded and the team of senior officers arrested the constable while he was accepting the bribe,” he said.
A case under various sections of the RPC has been registered against the accused at police station vigilance organisation
