KATRA: Jammu Division dominated the opening day of Inter-divisional Kho-Kho Tournament being organised by the Department of Youth Services & Youth Services in collaboration with Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board at Shrine Board’s Sports Complex, Katra.
The tournament in which five selected teams representing both the divisions of J&K State are taking part in the age group of 14, 17 and 19 years was inaugurated by the Chief Guest, Dr. Doifode Sagar Dattatray, Distt. Development Commissioner Reasi.
Director SMVD Shrine Board Sports Stadium, Ashok Kumar, District Youth Services and Sports Officer Reasi, Sudesh Kumar and the Chief Education Officer Reasi, Nirmal Choudhary were also part of the event.
The DC stressed on organising more such events across the district.
Three teams in each group will be selected for pre national tournament coaching camp followed by participation of the players in National School Games which will be organised under the ages of School Games Federation of India (SGFI). In his address the Chief Guest welcomed all young players their coaches and managers coming from across the State for participation. He appreciated the level of enthusiasm and sprit among the participants. He wished them best of their future, good health and success in achieving their targets.
All the participating players also took oath pledging to take part in the aforesaid tournament as true sportsperson and abiding by the rules regulations. Ashok Kumar, Director Sports, SMVDSB and Nirmal Choudhary Chief Education Officer Reasi were the Guests of Honour on the occasion. Earlier Sudesh Kumar, District Youth Services and Sports Officer who is the convener of the tournament, extended welcome to the Chief Guest, all dignitaries, players and officials. Among those who were present on the occasion were Chiterlekha, Sarabjit Kour Zonal Physical Education Officers, Vikrant Singh, Kuldeep Sharma, Karun Magotra, Romesh Chander, Rahul Bakshi, Pawan Kumar, Jagdev Singh and Opinder Pal Singh.
BOYS U-14: Kashmir Division beat Jammu Division by 14-13. The first innings scores were 09-06. U-19: Jammu Division beat Kashmir Division by 9-7. The first innings scores were 05-04.
GIRLS U-14: Jammu Division defeated Kashmir Division by 12-11. The first innings scores were 08-05. U-19: Jammu Division outplayed Kashmir Division by 7-6. The first innings scores were 4-3.
