JAMMU: District Jammu dominated with five out of six titles decided in the inter-district divisional level Table Tennis competition, organised by Department of Youth Services and Sports (DYSS), at Indoor Sports Complex, MA Stadium, here on Friday.
In this two-day event, held in both boys and girls sections, Jammu District bagged five titles in under-14 and under-19 categories as also girls under-17 event. In all, 90 students, drawn from six districts of Jammu Division took part in this competition.
Earlier, Jammu boys defeated their counterparts from Poonch in under-14 category while for girls title clash, Jammu outplayed the same opponent from district Poonch. Similarly, in under-19 event, Jammu boys trounced Poonch while girls outplayed district Udhampur. In under-17 age group, Jammu girls trounced Udhampur and district Poonch beat Udhampur.
Later, district officer (DYSS), Jammu, Chanchal Kour gave away the title trophies to the winners and runners-up teams. She congratulated the winning sides and appreciated the competitive spirit among those, who have lost in the final. Besides, coaches, managers and players, prominent among those present were Sher Singh (ZPEO Akhnoor) and Verna Tikoo (ZPEO Marh).
