RAMBAN: IRP 9th Battalion of Jammu and Kashmir Armed Police, on Saturday organised a friendly volleyball tournament under Civic Action Programme at Government Higher Secondary School, here.
Dr Ashok Kumar Sharma Principle of the host School was the Chief Guest.
The tournament was organised under the supervision of Senior Superintendent of Police Abrar Chowdhary, Commandant IRP 9th Battalion.
Before start of the programme the Commandant alongwith Chief Guest interacted with the players, their couches and physical education officers and lauded the role and interest of the youth in sports.
Earlier police distributed the sports uniforms and the sports kits among the players.
Ashok Kumar Sharma requested the police authorities for continuing such programmes at district, zonal and State levels.
SSP Abrar Chowdhary highlighted the role and sacrifices of police in safeguarding the life and property of people of the State. Chowdhary appealed to the gathering to save their children from social evils like drugs and the devlish traps of ANEs laid to provoke them, lure them and spoil their life. He appealed the youth to always prefer peace and communal harmony over the divisive tactics of the anti-national and anti-social elements.
Beside others, those present on the ocassion included Dy Commandant Amit Bhasin, Deputy Commandant Suresh Kumar Chib, other civil and police officers including NCC Officer Raj Singh Raju, Senior Lecturer Sushma Rani, Physical Education Instructor Omkar Singh, Lecturer Ashraf Bali and Lecturer Sarfaraz Ahmed.
