JAMMU: Lawrence Public High School, Sidhra organised a Best out of Waste competition under the aegis of Youth Talent Search Forum in the school premises on Friday. Students from eight schools of Jammu participated in the competition.
Children came up with innovative ideas and made some very interesting and useful things from waste materials like newspapers, plastic bottles, cans, wrappers, old clothes etc.
Students worked in groups of four in utilising the waste materials for making everyday utility things.
Pooja Kochhar, a renowned Dietitian and Rahul Gupta a Human Rights Activist adjudged the programme.
Pooja Kochhar appreciated the parents and teachers for their cooperation and generosity in developing the hidden talents of their wards.
Rahul Gupta stressed on the need of the hour to promote recycling of waste material as waste material disposal is a great challenge.
The first prize went to Tanveer Singh, Sumit Pal Singh, Deepali Pankaj and Samya Gupta of JK Montessorrie Sr Sec School. Second prize went to Meenakshi Devi, Tanvi Gupta, Aditi Shekhar and Ashima Kumari of New Era Environmental School. Third prize was shared by Priyanshi, Gagandeep Kaur, Divya and Vanshika of SD Tara Puri High School and Ayan Abbass, Mohd. Afif, Arbish Younas Khan and Takshit Kapoor of Lawrence Public School Panjtirthi. The Headmistress of Lawrence School Sidhra, Shivani Joshi presented vote of thanks.
