KATHUA: Marheen, Kathua and Hiranagar Zones entered in the semifinals of the Inter-Zone District Level Cricket tournament for under-17 boys being orgnaised by Department of Youth Services and Sports which got underway at Sports Stadium, here on Thursday.
The tournament is being held under the supervision of District Youth Services and Sports Officer Kathua Subash Chander Bhardwaj in which 130 players of 10 zones of district participated.
Earlier in the league matches played today, Malhar Zone defeated Barnoti Zone by three runs and Hiranagar Zone outplayed Mahanpur Zone by nine wickets.
In quarterfinal matches, Kathua Zone outplayed Bani Zone by 32 runs and Marheen Zone crushed Bhaddu Zone by big margin of 74 runs and reached semifinals.
In another quarterfinal, Hiranagar Zone defeated Billawar Zone by 10 wickets and stepped to semis.
Earlier batting first, Billawar set the target of 69 runs in eight overs and in reply Hiranagar achieved the target without losing any wicket in six overs.
Arjun Sharma of Hiranagar was the top scorer with 41 runs off 22 balls hitting seven boundaries and Amit of same zone clinched two wickets and made 22 runs off 19 balls.
