JAMMU: Department of Mathematics won the men’s volleyball title in the annual inter-department sports meet of University of Jammu held under the banner of Department of Sports and Physical Education on the campus, here on Saturday.
In the final, Mathematics defeated Department of Physical Education in straight sets of 25-20, 25 -18.
However, Physical Education emerged as most successful department in the sports meet with men’s badminton, men’s table tennis and men’s carrom titles to their credit.
In badminton final, Physical Education defeated MCA 2-0.
The women’s badminton title went to Department of Psychology, who beat Department of Political Science 2-0. In Table Tennis final, Physical Education downed the Department of Physics 2-0. The men’s carrom final also was won by Department of Physical Education beating Department of Mathematics 2-0.
The women’s table tennis was won by Department of Political Science beating Department of Geology 2-0. In carrom women title clash, Department of Life Long Learning beat Department of Mathematics 2-0. The men’s chess final was won by The Law School, who beat their seniors from Department of Law 2-0. Department of Environment Sciences bagged women’s chess title beating Department of Computer Sciences (MCA) 2-0.
The competition was officiated by the technical panel including Ravish Vaid, Vikas Karlopia, Vinay Manhas, Anil Kumar, Harinderpal Singh, Jai Bharat, P.D Singh and Gagan Kumar.
