JAMMU: Colourful functions with patriotic fervor and festivity marked the 72nd Independence Day celebrations across Jammu province.
At Samba: Deputy Commissioner Samba, Sushma Chouhan unfurled the National Flag, took the salute at the march past of contingents of JK Police, Army Band, NCC and students drawn from government and private institutions. A variety cultural program featuring items on patriotic themes, folk dance and music filled the ambience with festivity.
at Vijyapur: 72th Independence Day was celebrated at PTTI Vijaypur with great enthusiasm and patriotic fervour. Ashok Kumar Sharma, SSP (Principal) PTTI Vijaypur hoisted the National Flag in presence of Ram Singh Jamwal, Dy.SP (R&D), Mukesh Kumar, Dy.SP (Admn.), Karanjeet Singh, Dy.SP (Outdoor), Ajay Punjabi (Dy.SP Tech.), Rakesh Singh Sambyal, Dy.SP (Indoor), P.P. Singh, Sr.PO, Headmaster GMS Thalori Des Raj, Headmaster GMS Bhudhwal Ajeet Lal, teachers of Govt. Middle school Thalori and Budhal, Amar Jyoti, Renu Gupta, Renu Sharma, Nazia, Parveen Choudhary, Rinku Sharma along with students, prominent citizens, locals of adjoining villages and Retd. Police personnel also participated in the Independence Day function.

Bhagwan Dass, Inspr. Vikas Sharma,Inspr. Neeraj kumar, Inspr. Ashok Pandita and other staff members and trainees were present at the occasion.
At KATHUA: The main Independence Day function was held at District Sports Stadium where District Development Commissioner, Rohit Khajuria hoisted the National Flag and took salute at the parade comprising 46 contingents of CRPF, District Police, Police Training School, N.C.C boys and Girls, Forest Protection Force and tiny platoons of Government and Private schools.
Functions to celebrate Independence Day were also held at tehsil headquarters Basohli, Billawar and Hiranagar.
72nd Independence Day was celebrated at PTS Kathua with great enthusiasm and patriotic fervor. Ranjit Kanwar, (SSP) Principal SPS PTS Kathua presided over the function and hoisted the National Flag. S Tejinder Singh, (SSP) Vice Principal, Satish Kumar, CPO, AP(Indoor), Gurmeet Singh, Dy.SP (Admn), Girdhari Lal,Dy.SP(Estates & Security), Jai Pal Singh, Sr.PO, Teachers of Govt. Middle School Krishna Colony, Kathua, prominent citizens, family members of PTS Staff, respectable citizens of Kathua and Retd. Police officers.
Vote of thanks was presented by Gurmeet Singh, Dy.SP (Admn) PTS Kathua.
Meanwhile, Onkar chand Sharma Principal Govt. Higher Sec. School Hatli (kathua) hoisted the National Flag in school premises.
At Govt. HS Gaiterwan National Flag was unfurled by Head Master Vipan Kumar.
At Doda: The People of this mountainous district joined the nation in Independence Day celebrations as a series of functions were held across its length and breadth.
The main function was held at Sports stadium where Deputy Commissioner Simrandeep Singh unfurled the Tricolour and inspected guard of honour.
He took salute at March past comprising contingents of J&K police, IRP 5th Battalion, CRPF 76 Bn, Forest protection force, Home guards and school children drawn from all schools from across the district.
Similar celebrations were held in other parts of the district including Bhaderwah and Thathri. At Bhaderwah, ADDC Pawan Kumar Parihar hoisted the national flag and took salute of march past contingents. SDM Mohammad Anwar Banday hoisted the tri-colour at Thathri.
At Kishtwar: The Independence Day celebrations were also held in Kishtwar with great enthusiasm and National spirit.
The main function was held at parade ground Kishtwar where Deputy Commissioner, Angrez Singh Rana unfurled the Tricolour and took salute at the march past comprising contingents of JKP, CRPF, CISF JKAP, FPF, NCC and students drawn from various schools of the district.
Later consolation prizes, commendation certificates and mementoes were distributed among the participants and officers by the DDC.
Similar functions were held at Sub Divisions and Tehsil headquarters where Magistrates un-furled the Tricolour and took the salute at the march past.
72ndIndependence Day was celebrated by Dulhasti Power Station with great enthusiasm at Kendriya Vidyalaya, Dulhasti, Kishtwar, wherein a large number of employees, CISF Personnel, their family members, locals and school children participated. YoginderKotha, Head of the Power was the Chief Guest who unfurled the National Tricolor.
After March Past by the CISF & Students contingent CISFJawans demonstrated their skills followed by Yoga demonstration & cultural programme by the students of KendriyaVidyalay and employees of the Power Station.
At Bhadarwah: 33 Bn, CRPF celebrated 72nd Independence Day at Deptt Hqr, New police Police Complex, Kotli, Bhadarwah.
A. Padma Kumar, Commandant 33 Bn, CRPF unfurled the National Flag.
On the occasion, 21C Neeraj Tayagi was also felicitated, who was awarded President Police medal for meritorious for her well deserved honour, and who brought glory to the force.
On the occasion, the names of the recipients of five President’s Police Medal for distinguished service and 58 Police Medal for Meritorious Service in which one of them include Neeraj Tyagi, Second in Command, 33 Bn, CRPF were also read out.
Basantgarh Administration celebrated Independence Day in the premises of GHSS Basantgarh in which SDM Basantgarh was Attarchand was the Chief Guest who unfurled the National Flag in presence on Principal R.K Abrol. The students of adjoining areas also participated in the event.
At Reasi: Deputy Commissioner, Prasanna Ramaswamy G unfurled the national flag amidst a large cheering crowd in Reasi
Post guard of honour, march-past was presented by the Jammu Kashmir Police, the Jammu Kashmir Armed Police and the Jammu Kashmir Home Guards. Contingents of NCC cadets and students from various schools and colleges also formed the part of March Past.
The programme ended with prize distribution ceremony in which the participants and the winners were felicitated.
At UDHAMPUR: The Independence Day was celebrated across Udhampur with patriotic spirit and enthusiasm. Series of functions were held at District, Tehsil, Block and Niabat headquarters.
The main function was held in the premises of PG College Boys where the District Development Commissioner Udhampur Ravinder Kumar hoisted the National Flag and took salute at an impressive march past presented by 38 contingents of JKP, CRPF, Home Guard Volunteers, NCC, and students of various educational institutions.
Member Legislative Assembly Pawan Kumar Gupta, Director Sher- E Kashmir Police Academy, Udhampur Sulaiman Salaria, Senior Superintendent of Police, Mohammad Ahmed Bhat, Additional District Development Commissioner, Arvind Sharma, Additional Deputy Commissioner, Krishan Lal, and other senior officers of District Administration, police, Air Force and CRPF, BSF and Army besides prominent citizens and people in large number also graced the occasion.
Other who present were Ashok Bakshi, Sumeet Magotra, Vijay Manhas, Shashi Manhas, Yash Paul Sharma, Shakeel Shah, Surinder Khajuria, Geeta Khajuria, Gopal Khajuria, Sunil Gupta, Abhey Partap, Ravi Singh, Anyat Ullah, Eajesh Gupta, Swarka Prasher, Subash Verma, Girdhari lal, Ganesh Sharma, Surinder Manhas, Hans Raj, Dev Raj, Kartar Chand, Kuldeep Singh, Mangat Ram Jasvir Kour and Lasho Ram.
Similar functions were organized at Tehsil, Sub Division and Niabat level.
Govt. Higher Secondary School Keya celebrated 72nd Independence Day in the premises of the school, wherein Principal of school and Senior Lecturer Pankaj Sharma hoisted the National Flag.
Govt. High School Upper Thanoya also celebrate I-Day. Head Mistress Neelam Sharma hoisted the National Flag. LVD State President Vikram Singh Slathia also celebrated 72nd I-Day with great zeal.
Volunteers of MUSS celebrated 72nd Independence day in Udhampur. Sadvi has hoisted the tricolour in the premises of Maa Rajeshwari Ashram in Udhampur in the presence of volunteers.
Govt. Higher Secondary School Salmerhi celebrated 72nd Independence Day with great fun in which local Sarpanch Munshi Ram hoisted the national flag. At Govt. High School Moud Sarpanch Mani Ram unfurled the National Flag.
At Govt. Higher Secondary School Krimachi, Principal of the school hoisted the National Flag. Ex MLA Panther Party Balwant Singh Mankoita hoisted the National Flag at Slathia Chowk.
BJP workers led by State General Secretary Pawan Khajuira hoisted the Tricolour at BJP office near Sallain Talab in Udhampur.
Anand Bhartiya Vidyalaya (ABV), Ban Rathian celebrated 72nd Independence day function where Chairman of the School, K.L. Abrol was the Chief Guest who unfurled the National flag in the premises of the hosted school.
Ritu Abrol, prominent people of the area, Staff, Students and large number of people of the areas were witnessed the function.
At Govt Hr. Sec School, Thial (Udhampur), National Tricolour was hoisted by the officiating Principal SL Gupta whereas Satish Kumar, the Zonal Sports Officer, Babey presided over the function.
Ashok Sharma, lecturer in English conducted the programme.
At Ramban: The District Development Commissioner, Showkat Aijaz Bhat unfurled the national flag at Ramban.
MLA Ramban, Neelam Langeh, senior police and civil officers and a large number of people turned up at the venue to be part of the national event.
At RAJOURI: A series of Independence Day functions were organised across Rajouri district which witnessed large participation of the people.
The main function was held at District Police Lines Rajouri where chief guest, Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Aijaz Asad unfurled the National Flag and took the salute of March Past.
A total of 29 contingents of JKAP, JK Executive Police, JK Lady Police, CRPF, JK Lady Police, JK FPF, Home Guard and NCC besides the contingents of Senior Group Students and Junior Group Students took part in the March Past. DySP (Hqr) Govind Rattan commanded the parade.
Present on the occasion were MLA Adv Qammar Hussain Choudhary, senior civil and police officers, civil society member, Officers from Army and CRPF.
On 72nd Independence Day, MLC Vibodh Gupta visited house of Martyr Tufail Hussain in village of Doodsan Bala and unfurled flag with his family members and locals. He also visited the grave of Tufail Hussain martyred on 31 Dec 2017 and paid rich tribute to him.
Deputy Commissioner, Rahul Yadav unfurled the National Flag and took salute at the March Past at Poonch.
An impressive march past was presented by 28 contingents comprising JKAP, JKP, CRPF, Home Guards, Forest Protection Force, Fire & Emergency NCC Cadets and students of government and private institutions, under the overall command of Dy SP Bisham Dubey.
Legislators, Dr Shanaz Ganai, Pradeep Sharma, Yashpal Sharma, senior civil, police Army, CRPF officers district heads and a large number of people attended the function.
Meanwhile, Government Mixed Higher Secondary School (Camp) Purkhoo celebrated Independence Day with patriotic zeal.
Relief and Rehabilitation Commissioner, M.L. Raina hoisted the tricolor. Principal, faculty members, students and prominent citizens were present on the occasion.
At NOWSHERA: Janardhan Sewa Trust Nowshera distributed helping cheques to the needy persons on 72nd Independence day. The recipients include Beena Devi wife of Rattan Lal (a chronic disease patient resident of Dharat Rs 5000.for treatment at Jammu, Chain Singh son of Gandarb Singh resident of Dabar, a bed patient Rs 5000 for daughters marriage, Priya Devi (orphan) daughter of Lt Sham Lal resident of Darshan Nagar,Rs.5000.for admission in BA-1 in GDC Nowshera , Sunny Kumar son of Babu Ram(a heart patient) resident of Rajal Rs.5000. for admission in BA-1 in GDC Nowshera and Avtar Krishan son of Prem Dass resident of Hangana for daughter’s marriage.
BISHNAH: NGO, Third Eye Anti Crime Team celebrated Independence Day under the supervision of Chairman Sham Lal Gupta.
Magistrate Arjun Singh and AEE Bishnah RC Bhatti were as Chief Guests on the occasion.
Students of Bal Shiksha Kendre Chorli, Bishnah actively participated in band and dance performance.
Magistrate Arjun Singh and AEE RC Bhatti Presented memento and cash prize to students who participated in band.
State President of J&K Sahil Gupta, Rakesh Kumar, Narinder Kumar, Sansar Chand, Sunny, Ravi were also present.
JAMMU: GGHSS Nowabad celebrated 72nd Independence Day with great enthusiasm zeal and gaiety. Anita Zutshi, Principal of the Institution hoisted the National Flag in the premises of the institution. The members of the staff and students were present on the occasion.
