STATE TIMES NEWSJAMMU: BJP State General Secretary, Dr. Narinder Singh hailed the decision of Union Government to include the left out 5,300 PoJK families for grant of ex-gratia relief and claimed that the much awaited decision has rejuvenated rusted hearts with eroded hopes. Dr. Narinder Singh, said that with the decision, Union Cabinet led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi has done justice to the needy peoples. He said that earlier, in 1971, the then government headed by Congress leadership deliberately did grave injustice by excluding the families by rolling out a law. He said that not only the justice was denied to the families at the behest of selfish leaders, but it gave rise to a wave of alienation to the masses who were deprived of their birth places, for no fault of theirs. Dr. Singh, said that there were total 31,619 Pakistan occupied Jammu & Kashmir (PoJK) displaced families which were registered by the J&K Government in 1947, but around 5,300 families were made to move towards the other parts of Nation as the authorities expressed their inability to rehabilitate all families citing insufficiency of resources. But later, in 1971, government enacted a law, denying the 5300 families of their rights. Till now, the relief was being given to 26,319 PoJK displaced families plus 10,065 families displaced in 1965 and 1971 from Chhamb, thus giving relief to total 36,384 displaced families. After, the inclusion of these families, relief will be made available to 41,684 families, he said. Dr. Singh pointed out that the refugee population from PoJK which includes population from Poonch, Mirpur, Muzzafarabad, etc always cried out for the above benefit. He batted for their inclusion in the list citing the reason that the PoJK population has been victimized for decades together and have been at the receiving end of the circumstances due to continued apathy of the governments and various departments. He said that these 5,300 families, uprooted from PoJK in 1947, settled outside J&K to earn their livelihood, with consent of machinery and the BJP was following the issue more aggressively opposing the move to exclude these from the list Dr. Singh, said that BJP was always on the forefront to raise issues of those families and now due to the dedicated efforts of BJP leadership and commitment of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, BJP National President & Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Union government made a decision to provide relief to all those excluded families. He said that all those displaced families who had migrated to other states, will now also be provided ex-gratia relief of 5.5 lakh rupees and will also preserve their rights, which were denied deliberately then and this is a very welcome step taken, he said.
