JAMMU: Baisakhi was celebrated at Institute of Management Sciences (IMS) by the students of BBA with fervour and enthusiasm.
Students attired in colourful outfits made the morning assembly lively with their beautiful dance number followed by Punjabi songs and the best of Bhangra.
Addressing the gathering, the Chief Guest Prof. J.R Dhotra, Director IMS said that the role of academic institutions in spreading awareness on cultural heritage and preserving it has become imperative in this age of rapid globalisation. He reiterated the commitment of IMS to Punjabi culture. The celebration was marked by the presence of staff and students of the college.
The IMS campus turned into a carnival of dance, music and competitions as ‘Mela Baisakhi Da’ drew a heavy crowd with presentation of traditional items relating to rich culture of Punjab on display.
The college premises were aptly decorated, depicting the importance of this festival by showcasing a Punjabi village scene.
The stage was managed by Antriksha, Auyshi, Aryaman and Ayush and the programme was conceived by Himanshu, Akash Gupta, Akash Pandita, Shelly and Gautam.
