POONCH: Dr. S.D Singh Jamwal, Inspector General of Police, Jammu Zone, Jammu along with DIG R.P Range, Deepak Kumar Slathia reviewed the security arrangements made in connection with Budha Amarnath Yatra-2018 commencing with effect from August 17 from Jammu and shall conclude on August 24 in twin border Districts of Rajouri and Poonch.
During visit, Dr. Singh held a meeting to review the police/security arrangements made in connection with forth coming Budha Amarnath Yatra and overall security and law and order of the twin border districts in which DIG RP Range, SSP Poonch, SSP Rajouri, Additional SP Poonch and officers from Army, paramilitary participated.
During meeting SSP Poonch and Rajouri gave a detailed briefing with regard to the proposed deployment/various measures taken for security and management of Yatra and various challenges being faced by the twin border district in view of the present security scenario. Besides, other officers of army, CAPF and intelligence agencies also gave detailed briefing to IGP Jammu from terrorism /law and order point of view. He also stressed upon the officers to ensure that the vehicles cross the identified locations as per the specified cut-off timings, and directed SSP Rajouri and Poonch to take all precautions in view of inclement weather conditions so as to ensure the smooth passage of the Yatra through their respective areas.
Dr Singh stressed for continued synergy among various stakeholders including all religious communities during interaction with the prominent citizens of Chandak, Mandi and Poonch along with security forces and other officials on ground. He also highlighted the importance of yatra for promotion of Poonch and Mandi on a tourism map of the country and contribution to the local economic prosperity. Locals of the area also extended their support and cooperation.
IGP, Jammu Zone directed the officers to raise their guard and to adopt a citizen-friendly approach to policing to win the confidence of general public.
