JAMMU: Rest of India defeated J and K XI by six wickets in the trial match organised by Zonal Police Headquarters Jammu in collaboration with the Physically Challenged Cricket Association of India at Science College Hostel Ground Jammu, here on Thursday.
Batting first, J&K XI was bowled out for 92 runs. Syed Shah Aziz with (24), Firdose (21) and Jagmohan (11) were the main scorers. For Rest of India, Skipper Ravi Patil picked three wickets, Sarang and Manish shared two each and Vikrant claimed one.
In reply, Rest of India XI chased the target in 11.3 overs for the loss of four wickets. Ravi Patil was the top scorer with 23 runs followed by Vikrant Kinni and Omveer, who added 20 and 18 runs to the total.
From J&K XI, Jagmohan clinched two 2 wickets and Nadeem and Firdose shared apiece.
Earlier, IGP Jammu SD Singh, the Chief Guest, inaugurated the Coaching Camp and Trial matches of the Physically Challenged Cricketers of India.
Speaking on the occasion, IGP said that J and K Police is committed to provide platform to every youth of the State in all fields so that they can flourish at national and international levels and may not derail from the main stream.
He also assured the J and K Physically Challenged Cricketers to conduct more tournaments in near future and also conduct special coaching camps for the J and K cricketers so that they can give tough fight to the rest of India Players.
Earlier, Rajesh Gill, Chief Prosecuting Officer Coordinator of the event presented welcome address and brief detail of the tournament.
Others present were Sunil Gupta SSP Jammu, Rajesh Sharma SO to IGP Jammu, Nitender Singh Director Cricket Operation Physically Challenged Cricket Association of India, Rajnish Pran SO to DIG Jammu, Vinod Kumar SP City, Ramesh Kotwal SP Headquarters, Vinay Sharma SP Operation, Des Rattan Dubey Joint Secretary JKCA, Jammu, Parshotam Sharma, Deputy Director RPHQ, DySP West Nikhil, DySP East Arun Jamwal, DySP Headquarter Sugandha Mahajan, DySP Priyanka and SHO Nawabad.
After the match, four Jammu and Kashmir players namely Jagmohan, Nadeem Ahmad, Syed Shah and Firdose were selected and will be tested in net practice and trial matches for their selection in the national team.
The selected team will represent the Country in the forthcoming Indo-Afghan Friendship Series being organized by the Physically Challenged Cricket Association of India at Saheed Vijay Pratham Stadium Greater Noida (international stadium) from 22nd May, 2017.
Today’s match was officiated by Sadiq Hussain, Saleem Ur Rehman, Madan Mohan and Sandeep Manchanda whereas the proceedings of the inauguration function was conducted by Rajesh Dhar.
