STATE TIMES NEWS JAMMU: Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR), Ministry of External Affairs, Regional Office, Jammu & Kashmir showcased an unique mega musical concert ‘Sangam’, a union of ethos, Kashmiri, Dogri, Gojri, Punjabi folk songs here on Tuesday at K.L Sehgal Hall. The concert was presented by a group of artists from Vomedh led by Rohit Bhat under ‘Horizon Series’. A galaxy of artists and music lovers witnessed the spectacular show with a great zeal and enthusiasm. The programme started with a lighting of lamp performed by the Chief Guest, Raman Suri, N.K Shil Regional Director ICCR and Regional Passport Officer and other distinguished notables present there. Thereafter, artists and Chief Guest was felicitated with presentation of bouquet by Regional Director, ICCR Jammu. Welcoming the guests, Shil informed that ICCR being a cultural wing of MEA basically wants to enhance India’s soft diplomatic power worldwide and boost India’s skills of cultural diplomacy as well as to bring the entire nation together through cultural and educational initiatives/exchanges. Today’s performance began with Kashmiri song followed by a Dogri song and Punjabi song by Sukriti Sharma, Manik Deep Kour, and others which captivated everyone in the audience with their powerful medley of singing. The melodious Gazal sung by Reshav enthralled the audience. Those who accompanied the singers included Mohammad Siraz (Rabab), Mohd Shafiq (Tumbak Tari), Abdul Rashid (Sarangi), Rahul (Tabla), Arjun (Octobad) and Mohammad Ashraf (Matka). Another striking feature of the programme was the versatile anchoring done by presenter Rajni. Suri complimented the efforts of ICCR in promoting communal amity and brotherhood in the society and preserving the ethnically rich composite culture of J&K UT and harnessing the local talent. Prominent personalities who attended the function were K.Y Manhas, former-Judge, Kolkata District Court; D.C Sharma, former Dy Commissioner, Excise, T.K Sharma, Additional Secretary JKAACL and Bishen Singh, eminent artist.
