Stresses on imparting quality education
State Times News JAMMU: Governor Satya Pal Malik on Sunday reacted strongly to allegations levelled against him by Kashmir based mainstream leaders that he is making political statements while remaining in Raj Bhawan. Interacting with media persons, on the sidelines of a function at Katra, the Governor said, “I am not only Governor of the State but Chief Minister as well. So if you (referring to those making allegations) will abuse the government on daily basis someone will surely respond to these charges”. Clarifying further, the Governor said, “Governor’s job is not only to play ‘Golf’ all the time”. He said, he is representative of the President of India here in Raj Bhawan and it is his responsibility to present view point of the government which he represents. “It is not at all politics”, he added. On the demand of divisional status to other regions of the State, the Governor said the recent decision of granting division status to Ladakh was taken by the high level committee constituted to look into the long pending demand of people of Ladakh region. He said all those demanding division as status for other areas can do so after formulation of the popular government in the State. The Governor reiterated his commitment to stand behind security forces to boost their morale under the prevailing scenario in the State. Earlier, addressing a function the Governor stressed on imparting quality education to the youth so that they can effectively contribute towards nation building besides pursuing their dream jobs. The function organised jointly by the Jat Sabha Chandigarh, Panchkula and Rahbre Azam Deen Bandu Ch. Chhotu Ram Sabha, Jammu on the occasion of Basant Panchmi and 138th Birth Anniversary of Deen Bandhu Ch. Chhotu Ram at the Conference Hall of the Spiritual Growth Centre, SMVDSB, Katra.
“Education is the key for ensuring holistic development of youth and it is our responsibility to ensure that quality education and ample extra-curricular avenues are given to the youth”, the Governor observed.
Birender Singh, Union Minister for Steel; Dr. Jitendra Singh, Union Minister of State (I/C) for Development of North Eastern Region and MoS PMO; Vikram Randhawa MLC; Simrandeep Singh, Chief Executive Officer, SMVDSB; Dr M. S. Malik, Chairman, Rahbre Azam Deen Bandu Ch. Chhotu Ram Sabha, Jammu; Surinder Kumar Choudhary; prominent citizens and other dignitaries were present on the occasion.
Highlighting the contributions of Deen Bandhhu Sir Chhotu Ram, Governor noted that he was instrumental in protecting the rights of the farmers and for promoting welfare of the weaker sections of the society. Governor observed that his honesty of purpose, vision and idealism, brilliant intellect, deep humanity, struggle and sacrifices will be remembered for ever.
Governor also highlighted the initiatives of the Centre Government for the welfare and development of the farmers.
On the occasion, Governor released a Souvenir “Deen Bandhu Sir Chhotu Ram- 138th Birth Anniversary” and a Calendar.
The function commenced with a welcome song by students of MV International School.
Dr M S Malik, Chairman, Rahbre Azam Deen Bandu Ch. Chhotu Ram Sabha, Jammu presented the Welcome Address on the occasion.
