JAMMU: “Khaki, symbol of protector wields power of motherland law. The way girl child in society is insecure and threatened with sexual assault, rapes and murder, challenge for Khaki is ‘honour law, secure girl child’. Eyes go up staring at Khaki in askance; the custodian of law, whenever heinous beastly crime of gang rape and murder of girl child makes headlines”, said S.S. Bijral retired IGP and BJP state spokesperson.
Remunerating, he said, the embers of rage over Kothkai gang rape and murder of 16-year old school girl in Himachal Pradesh had not cooled down, case of abduction bid with intent to wrongful confinement and other offences of Vernika Kundu, daughter of serving IAS officer in Chandigarh made the headlines. The identified, named two accused in the case are law graduates with one of them son of a political big wig in Haryana.
Wondering about increasing frequency of these incidents Bijral, BJP State Convener of ‘Beti Bachao Beti Padhao’ said it is primarily insecurity of girl child in country that is critically bringing down ratio of girls vis a vis boys through female foeticide.
He expressed surprise and dismay over media reports that Chandigarh police firstly held the accused applying bailable offences and freed the duo but later with all round hue and cry, accused were rearrested under non-bailable offences. With law applied suiting convenience of accused, Bijral spreading PM’s message of ‘Beti Bachao Beti Padhao’ to homes with students as campaign ambassadors, wondered in patriarchal society if Khaki would also be partisan, who would the society look upto. He maintained that law of motherland is adequate to rein in the violators with deterrence.
Given the honest intentions and devotion to motherland, he said, there is no reason for Khaki to disappoint people. Girl child is future mother, the gender i.e. 50 per cent of country’s population. Those neglecting this other half, have their nationalistic character a suspect, he asserted.
