STATE TIMES NEWS JAMMU: Hindi play on emotional saga of armed forces ‘Mar Kar Jeena’ was staged here at Abhinav Theatre. The play marked the debut of noted Playwright Rakesh Roshan Bhat as Director. The play not only cited about martyrs and their martyrdom but it also highlighted the superficiality of short lived love of common people towards them. It talks about the sufferings of the families of martyrs. The play is a story of two soldiers and best friends Capt. Shivam and Major Puneet. Both of them have been martyred in a terrorist attack on an army camp. Their souls are wandering while awaiting emancipation around the memorial people have built at that site. Puneet’s soul is able to converse with his son Veer who comes to meet him daily at the memorial site. Their emancipation is possible only when they willingly wish to leave the world. But Puneet wants to stay put because he is able to see his son daily. And Shivam does not want to leave the world without Puneet. One day when Veer’s friend Vinod meets an accident and Veer is not in a position to go and meet Puneet, Puneet trades his boon to see his son once. The final scene where Puneet visits his home to see his wife and son one last time and to bid goodbye to them is heart wrenching.
