JAMMU: J&K High Court Bar Association, Jammu, on Tuesday accorded warm farewell to Justice Bader Durrez Ahmed, The Chief Justice, High Court of Jammu & Kashmir at a function held here in the High Court complex.
Justice Bader Durrez Ahmed will demit the office of the Chief Justice on his superannuation on March 15, 2018.
The function started with the presentation of bouquets to Justice Bader Durrez Ahmed, Justice B.A Khan former Chief Justice of J&K High Court and presently Chairman Accountability Commission, other former Judges of the High Court-Justice K.K Gupta, Justice O.P Sharma and Justice Sunil Hali by senior advocates namely U.K Jalali, Sunil Sethi, K.S Johal, Surinder Kour, besides, advocates namely Daya Ram Khajuria, Abhinav Sharma, Adarsh Sharma, Gagan Basotra, Sindhu Sharma, Usman Salaria, R.K Jain, Sanjeev Padha, Radha Sharma, Monika Kohli, Ranjit Jamwal, Rakesh Chargotra, Pawan Kundal, Nitin Bhasin, Himanshu Beotra, Anil Khajuria, Gaurav Jamwal, Rozina Afzal, Deepika Mahajan and Veenu Gupta.
A memento and a shawl was presented to Justice Bader Durrez Ahmed by the team of Bar Association led by its President and Senior Advocate, B.S Slathia, besides, Sachin Gupta Vice President, Prem Sadotra General Secretary, Himanshu Sharma Joint Secretary and Chetan Misri Treasurer.
While addressing the gathering, Slathia said that Justice Bader Durrez Ahmed belongs to a very cultured family, a very good human being and is a kind hearted person.
“His remarkable sense of justice and fairness combined with simplicity and brilliance has been his hallmarks as a Judge of High Court,” he said.
Slathia asserted that Justice Ahmed always treated all the lawyers equally and did not believe in the face law, which quality of him was admired by all the members of the Association. He further stated that Justice Ahmed has brought a revolution in equipping the Courts may be Jammu or Srinagar wing of the High Court, besides Trial Courts in the State. It was during his short tenure that Video conferencing was introduced in the courts in J&K for deciding the cases, he said.
With his Lordship’s expertise in the field, the State of J&K has taken the lead in establishment of e-Cause list, SMS/ e-mail alert facility, introduction of ‘Case History’ link on the official website of Jammu and Kashmir High Court, conducting of cases through video conferencing digitalisation and weeding of records and e-Post.
While addressing the gathering, the Chief Justice lauded the role of legal fraternity of J&K as also the role played by the members of J&K High Court Bar Association, Jammu in extending their sincere cooperation and assistance in conducting the court proceedings. He further stated that he had very short tenure in the State of J&K and whatever possible he could do he has put all his efforts to take the Courts in the State of J&K to new heights and as on date J&K is one such state which has attained the position of being one of court in the country to lead in the digitalization field and has taken the lead in deciding the cases by holding Video conferencing. He also suggested the members of the Association to refrain from suspension of work in the courts as it causes great hardships to the justice seekers in the courts. He further stated that notwithstanding his retirement he shall always be available to extend his helping hand for the betterment of the Institution- particularly in making the E-courts.
Prem Sadotra, General Secretary compered the proceeding of the function. Sachin Gupta, Vice President presented vote of thanks.

The function was concluded with the reciting of National Anthem.
