STATE TIMES NEWSSRINAGAR: Governor Satya Pal Malik on Thursday presented 10 President’s Police Medal for Gallantry (PPMG), 68 Police Medal for Gallantry (PMG), nine President’s Police Medal for Distinguished Service (PPM-DS) and 52 Police Medal for Meritorious Service (PM-MS) to the police officers, policemen and next of kin of martyred police personnel for their exemplary contribution in the service of nation in an Investiture ceremony held at the SKICC here. Nazir Ahmed Gurezi, Deputy Speaker Legislative Assembly; K Vijay Kumar, K. Skandan, Khurshid Ahmed Ganai-Advisors to Governor; Surinder Ambardar and Ashok Khajuria, MLCs; Lt. Gen. KJS Dhillon, GOC 15 Corps; Umang Narula, Financial Commissioner to Governor; Shaleen Kabra, Principal Secretary Home; Dilbag Singh, DGP were among those present on the occasion. Before the start of the Ceremony, two-minute silence was observed as a mark of respect for the martyrs of the Jammu and Kashmir Police who laid down their lives in the service of nation.
Meanwhile, Governor Satya Pal Malik awarded DySP Vikram Singh of Jammu and Kashmir Police at present SSG with President Police Medal for Meritorious Services in a function held at SKICC, Srinagar.
He was also decorated with President Police Medal for Gallantry on January 26, 2005, DGP commendation Medal in the year 2011, Antrik Suraksha Medal in the year 2000 and was also commended with many commendation certificates from Army and Senior Police Officers for his services.
He remained posted as SHO, IC SOG and in Vigilance in Doda, Ramban, Banihal, Bhadarwah, Kishtwar, Satwari, Miran Sahib, Rania, Chenani, Mendhar, Gursai, Surankote and Jammu.
He developed a strong network of informers which led to killings/arrests of many terrorists and over ground workers (OGWs, and also busting of their hideouts. He always led his jawans from the front. He remained active in many anti terrorist operations in Districts Doda, Udhampur, Poonch and Jammu.
In one of the terrorist attacks in Chenani, when he was SHO, his vehicle was blown off with IED blast . Inspite of being injured he saved life of fellow police officials and also saved their weapons. In another incident at Gursai as SHO, his vehicle was ambushed by the terrorists killing three police personnel. Inspite of being received bullet injury, he drove away the vehicle out of ambush saving the life of other 12 police personnel sitting in the vehicle.
He remained instrumental in solving number of cases including criminal, terrorism related, money laundering, murder, thefts and anti corruption.
Mohan Lal SSP, a 99 Batch KPS Officer, presently posted in SK Police Academy, Udhampur received 1st Bar to Police Medal for Gallantry from the Governor, Satya Pal Malik. Mohan Lal was rewarded Police Medal for Gallantry by the President of India in the year 2002, Prakraram Padak in the year 2008, 1st Bar to Police Medal for Gallantry by the President of India in the year 2010, and DGP’s Commendation Medal in the year 2012. Mohan Lal has rendered his services as DySP (SOG) Pattan, Baramulla SP (Operations) Doda twice; SP Rural, Jammu, SP Katra ; SSP Kathua; SSP Traffic City, Jammu; SSP Ramban and Commandant JKAP 7th and IRP 10th Battalions.
