NEW DELHI: Tarun Uppal, National Core Committee Member of Anna Hazare Anti-Corruption Movement met The Great Khali, Indian wrestler at New Delhi and discussed various issues related to the growing drug menace in the State of Jammu and Kashmir.
Tarun apprised Khali that the drug menace is at peak in the Jammu and Kashmir State as young boys and girls are going into the jaws of drug menace and many families are being ruined.
Uppal said that the Jammu and Kashmir is always in the limelight due to terrorism in the Kashmir Valley but some-anti national elements are replacing it with the drugs resulting in death and destruction of youth.
“Drug menace is much more dangerous than the terrorism and it has the potential to destroy the society,” Uppal said, seeking support from the Great Khali in eradicating menace of drug abuse.
Tarun Uppal emphasised that there is also dire need to encourage the innocent and mis-guided youth of Kashmir Valley who are indulging in stone pelting due to the influence of some anti-national elements.
On the request of Tarun Uppal, Khali has agreed to visit Jammu in the month of October with a view to make youth aware about the ill effects of drugs.
In his message to the youth of J&K, Khali called upon the youth to involve themselves in sports and other allied activities to prevent them from falling prey to drugs.
Raising serious concern over the Valley youth, Khali asked them to shun the path of stone pelting.
“They should focus on their studies and not to indulge themselves into anti-social or anti-national activities and channelise their energies towards nation building instead,” Khali asserted.
To create awareness among youth against drug abuse, Tarun Uppal is going to hold a massive body building championship in the month of October in which Great Khali has consented to be the Chief Guest and youth from all corners of Jammu will participate to contribute in the social cause.
Uppal said that the cooperation of every section of the society is must to liberate younger generation from drug addiction.
