JAMMU: Patwaris and Girdawars, who are on strike for the last 26 days, on Saturday demanded government to fulfill assurances made to them at the earliest.
Under the banner of the All Jammu and Kashmir Patwari Association (AJKPA), the Patwaris and Girdawars assembled inside the premises of Deputy Commissioner’s Office, here.
They also announced to continue with the strike till the government redresses their demand.
Working of the Revenue Department has been severely affected due to strike by Patwaris.
Their demands include grade pay of Rs 2,800 for graduate Patwaris, timely departmental promotion committee of Patwaris and GQs, the creation of GQ circle and Patwar Halqas, ban on direct recruitment of Naib Tehsildars, enhancement of allowances for Patwaris and GQs, rent for Patwar Khanna and meeting halls for Patwar association.
