STATE TIMES NEWS JAMMU: Due to prevailing situation in Jammu and Kashmir in view of coronavirus threat, the Government Polytechnic Jammu has started online classes for polytechnic students of all streams. Speaking regarding the initiative taken by college administration, Principal, Arun Bangotra said, “Classroom study can halt but education can’t. All the HoDs and teaching faculty has created Google classrooms and WhatsApp groups for all subjects, which are monitored daily by the Principal and HoDs. In last one week, all students of the college have joined the online classes. Through various Whatsapp groups created by HoDs, all the students were informed to download Google Classroom app from Playstore, create an account by email, click on + symbol and join the class by entering the subject/class code provided by subject faculty. The step has been taken so that the studies of students don’t suffer due to lockdown of college as per current situation. The students shall be provided all study material, notes, handouts, ppts, video lectures and assignments online on Whatsapp group, Google Classrooms and through emails.” The Principal has offered all students of Jammu and Kashmir to take benefit of these Google Classrooms by sharing their contact details on college official Email id/Facebook/Instagram page. All the students are further advised to take the benefit of online classes by registering themselves on Swayam portal for various engineering online courses and National Education Alliance for Technology (NEAT), an initiative of AICTE for enhancing employability skills of students by collaborating with various Education Technology Companies, free of cost, he asserted.
