STATE TIMES NEWS UDHAMPUR: In a first ever incident, GDC Sar Bagga was disqualified and banned from participating in the first ever Sports Festival being organized at GDC Udhampur. The incident occurred during the inaugural ceremony of the Sports Festival. A mega show had been organized at GDC Udhampur for the Inaugural function of this first ever Sports Festival being held under the aegis of Higher Education Department. Navin Kumar Chaudhary, Principal Secretary to Govt. Higher & Technical Education Department was the Chief Guest at GDC Udhampur. The function took off in an excellent manner but the disgraceful event occurred on the concluding event when the Police Band was playing National Anthem. Everyone was standing in attention. Some students of GDC Sar Bagga without caring for the National Anthem and in utter disrespect, played Volleyball during the ceremony. This was immediately noticed by authorities who, taking strong on sport action disqualified GDC Sar Bagga, Mahore from participating in sports events. It may be mentioned that it is for the first time that an action has been taken for showing disrespect to the National Anthem.
