State Times News SAMBA: Red Ribbon Club, Govt. Degree College Samba organised a symposium on drug de addiction in collaboration with J&K State Aids Prevention and Control Society, Department of Health and Medical Education Govt. of Jammu and Kashmir on Friday. About 22 students participated in the symposium. These students included Red Cross Volunteers, NSS Volunteers and NCC Cadets of the college. The Principal of the college Dr.G.S Rakwal was the Chief Guest of the occasion and Dr. Ashok Kumar, Vice-Principal was the Guest of Honour. The welcome address was given by Dr. Ram Singh, the Convener of the Red Ribbon Club of the college. In his address he welcomed the guests, faculty members, jury members, students, NSS Volunteers, Red Cross Volunteers and NCC cadets for making their presence in the function. The purpose of organising the symposium on drug de addiction was elaborated to the students. Dr. Seema Convenor, Red Ribbon Committee also interacted with the participants and threw light on the need of such events for making the youth aware towards various problems of life. In his address the guest of Honour, Dr. Ashok Kumar Bhagat threw light on various categories of drug addiction and possible means to fight these addictions. The concluding address was given by Principal of the College. In his address, he lauded the efforts of Red Ribbon Club and Committee for organising the symposium on an important issue. He encouraged the students to adopt the healthy living styles and remain away from the drug of any kind. Dr. Rawan Kumar, Prof. Surbhi Gupta and Prof. Kamaljeet were the jury members. The first prize went to Priya Sambyal, the second prize was won by Sahil Choudhary and the third prize was given to Sahil Sharma. Moreover the consolation prizes were given to Chhavi Khajuria and Manisha Sharma All the participants were distributed certificates of participation and mementoes. The programme ended with the formal vote of thanks by Dr.Narsing Dass ,Member Red Ribbon Club. The Programme Compered by Prof. Sukhwinder Kour and Dr. Geeta Lakhotra Others who attended the programme were Dr.M.S. Pathania, Dr.Ranvijay Singh, Prof. Asha Devi Prof. Sukhwinder Kour Dr. Balbeer Dr Arun Kumar and Prof. Purvaiya Hans.
