RAMNAGAR: In commerotaion with Swami Vivekananda Jayanti and Festival of Lohri, Red Ribbon Club and NSS Unit of the Govt Degree College celebrated National Youth Day in the college with great fervour, gaiety and fanfare under the supervision of Prof. Kewal Kumar NSS P.O and DR. Pankaj Sharma, Nodal Officer Red Ribbon Club. In the programme Principal Prof. Brinder Singh was the Chief Guest.
The function started with the welcome address by the Convener Prof. Kewal Kumar. It was followed by a keynote address by Dr. Pankaj Sharma. A twofold programme of the students was held next. Firstly there was an interactive group discussion of the students on Swami Vivekananda and role of youth in building the nation in which the students had discussion on growing intolerance, regionalism and religious violence vis-à-vis communal hatred and the ways in which the Youth can resolve this.
In the second part of the programme the student speakers namely Nandini, Anju, Sakshi, Sunidhi, Vishwas Kudyar, Arshdeep, and Sakul Kharka enthusiastically presented their views on life of Vivekananda, his famous speech at Chicago USA and his relevance today as role Model for the young generation. They in unison said that the destiny of the country is in the hands of youth and we should act responsibly.
The programme came to an end by the vote of thanks was given by Prof. Kewal Kumar NSS Program Officer with an assurance to organise many such programmes in the coming days. The programme was attended by all the staff members and students of the college. Principal Prof. Brinder Singh alongwith Prof. Kewal Kumar and Dr. Pankaj Sharma distributed booklets on Life and Teachings of Swami Vivekananda.
