STATE TIMES NEWSKATHUA: Government Degree College Kathua culminated week long celebration of 550th Birth anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev by organising Seminar and Kavi Darbar. The programme was inaugurated with traditional lamp lightening byProf Assa Ram Sharma Principal of the college along with chief guest and resource person Dr. Pritam Singh on the occasion. The welcome note was given by Principal of the college. In the first session of the day a valuable lecture was delivered by Dr. Pritam Singh, Sr. Assistant professor, Dept of Punjabi University of Jammu. In lecture, he laid emphasis on the life and teachings of Guru Nanak Dev with their present relevance. He further laid stress on the teachings of Guru Nanak Dev by focusing on Kirat Karni, Naam Japna and Vand Shakna. In the second session of the day, Kavi darbar was organized. Ten poets across Jammu and Punjab region took part in the event. The prominent poets who participated in the event were Parveen Singh, Hardev Singh Mussafir, CS Kattal, Nirmal Singh, R S Kattal, Vijay Kumar Sharma, Dalip Singh Sawan and Harman Singh. Poets presented their poetry on the life and teachings of Guru Nanak Dev by singing and reading. The entire week long programme was organised by Guruparv Celebration Committee comprised of Prof Jaswinder Singh, Prof Manmohan Singh , Prof Sachinjeet Singh, Prof Amrik Singh, Prof Kamaldeep Singh and Prof Baljeet Kour. The proceedings of the programme was conducted by Prof Sumnesh Singh Jasrotia , Head of the Deptt Of Chemistry. Prof P K Rao, Prof Anirudh, Prof Shub Kumar, Prof Rakseh Jasrotia,Prof Kailash . Prof Sumit Dubey,Prof. Kehar Singh, Prof Ritu Kumar Sharma, Prof Neha Bandral, Prof Raj Kiran and Prof Rachna were present on the occasion.
