AKHNOOR: GDC Akhnoor organised an awareness programme on drug menace and Internet addiction with special focus on life taking games like Blue whale challenge. R.C Kotwal, SSP HQ Jammu was the chief guest while Munish Anand was the guest of honour.
Dr. Anil Gupta, Principal GDC Akhnoor gave a warm start to the event focusing on the ill effects of drugs and the laws pertaining to prohibition. He also referred to countries like China, Singapore, USA, Bhutan where in the strict laws are in operation to prevent drug trafficking. The resource person discussed the social issues of drug addiction, its side effects and its increasing trends among the youth and how to stay away from it. In his discussion the resource person focused on the fact that pre adolescents and adolescents are vulnerable to using illicit drugs and also highlighted that under international drug control drugs such as cannabis, cocaine, opiates and hypnotic sedatives effect the psychological, emotional and physical development. He also discussed about the increasing Internet addiction particularly of private social networking sites in youngsters that is proving even fatal.
Others issues like traffic rules, law and order, friendly relations with police were also discussed in detail. More than 100 students participated in the event. In the last students put their queries to the police officers that were well answered and the event came to an end with the presentation of vote of thanks.
