Sports Reporter JAMMU: Gandhi Nagar Zone bagged twin titles of under-17 volleyball and under-14 kho-kho in the inter-zone girls’ competitions of district Jammu, organised by the Department of Youth Services and Sports (DYSS) at different venues, here on Saturday. In the final of under-17 volleyball played at Government High School Jammu Cantonment, here, Gandhi Nagar defeated Marh Zone in straight sets. Semifinals: Gandhi Nagar Zone beat Jourian 2-0; Marh Zone beat Chowki Choura 2-0. Shazia and Sohani displayed superb spike work from the winning side of Gandhi Nagar. Similarly, in under-14 kho-kho, Gandhi Nagar Zone trounced Khour Zone 9-5 in the final. Semifinals: Khour beat R S Pura Zone 6-4 pts; Gandhi Nagar Zone beat Akhnoor Zone 2-1 pts. Nandani, Anshu and Khushi secured three points each from Gandhi Nagar. The under-17 girls kho-kho title was went to Marh Zone, which beat their counterparts from Akhnoor by one turn and one point in the final. Himakshi played fine game from winners Marh Zone. Semifinals: Marh beat Dansal 5-2 pts; Akhnoor beat Khour 5-0 pts. Meanwhile, in under-14 girls kabaddi final, R S Pura Zone emerged winner outplaying Akhnoor Zone 31-20. Komal, Shilpa and Palavi contributed eight points each from the winning side. Semifinals: R S Pura beat Bishnah Zone 45-39 pts; Akhnoor beat Gandhi Nagar 29-05 pts. In under-17 kabaddi final, Miran Sahib Zone defeated R S Pura Zone 35-19. Raffia Bibi and Sonia were main contributors with nine points each while Maryam added seven for the Miran Sahib Zone. Semifinals: Miran Sahib beat Akhnoor 53-48 pts; R S Pura beat Marh Zone 55-48 pts.
