JAMMU: Y.P Kotwal Presiding Officer of Fast Track Court constituted to deal with the cases relating to women, on Saturday awarded four years rigorous imprisonment (RI) and fine Rs 30,000 to one Ravi Kumar, son of Sham Lal who was facing trial in a molestation case.
According to the case during the intervening night of April 24/25, 2012 the accused made a forceful entry in her house and molested her when her husband was away. On the basis of a complaint police registered a case and after completion of investigation Challan was presented.
Presiding Officer Y.P Kotwal after hearing APP G.S Charak appearing for the State whereas Advocate Ravinder Kumar appearing for the accused observed that taking into consideration and mitigating circumstances available on the record, convict is sentenced to undergo three years RI and fine Rs 20,000 under Section 458 RPC and he is further sentenced to under one year RI and a fine of Rs 10,000 under Section 354 RPC. Court further clarified that both the sentences shall run concurrently and also directed that in case fine amount is realized from the convict then an amount of Rs 30,000 shall be paid to prosecutrix as compensation who suffered due to the act of the convict.
