SRINAGAR: Continuing its efforts to eradicate the menace of drugs from the society, four drug peddlers were arrested in Anantnag and Kulgam Districts.
Acting on a specific information, a party of Police Station Ashmuqam headed by SHO Ashmuqam arrested one drug peddler identified as Tariq Ahmad Bhat, son of Ghulam Mohammad Bhat, resident of Dangerpora Yaal Ashmuqam and recovered poppy straw from his possession. A case FIR No 04/2018 under Sections 8 and 15 NDPS Act was registered and investigation was taken up.
In Kulgam, a party of Police Post Jawahar Tunnel intercepted a Sumo bearing registration No JK02AB-4097 during a Naka checking.
During checking, police recovered 10 Kgs poppy straw from the possession of Mudasir Ahmad Malik, son of Ghulam Mohammad, Feroz Ahmad Chowpan, son of Mushtaq Ahmad and Mushtaq Ahmad Baba, son of Ghulam Rasool, all residents of Laroogam, Tral.
Police registered a case and investigation was taken up.
