BANIHAL: Police on Friday arrested four drug peddlers and recovered 300 kg poppy straw from their possession.
As per the detail, under the supervision of SDPO Banihal Dheeraj Singh Katoach, a team led by SHO Police Station Banihal Insp Ajaz Wani during random checking at T-Chowk intercepted a truck (PB09X-7727). During checking, police recovered 250 kilograms of poppy straw from the truck and arrested the driver. Similarly another Naka was established at Teethar Banihal and 50 kg poppy straw was recovered from a truck (HR68- 9697). Three persons were also arrested.
Accordingly two different FIRs have been registered at Police Station Banihal vide 20,21/ 2018 , under section 8/15 NDPS Act and investigation taken up .
Arrested persons in both the cases were identified as Shamsher Singh son of Puran Singh resident of Kapurthala Punjab, Omkar Singh son of Avtar Singh, Binder Singh son of Gurbaksh, Jasbir Singh son of Antar Singh all three residents of Jalandher Punjab.
