STATE TIMES NEWS JAMMU: The J&K State Bharat Scouts and Guides (BS&G) Jammu, celebrated its foundation day here on Friday at Gandhi Nagar, Jammu in which about 200 Scouts/Guides and heads of various institutions participated. Dr Saleem-ur-Rehman, Director General Youth Service & Sports and Ex-Officio Vice- President of J&K Bharat Scouts & Guides was the Chief Guest whereas Anuradha Gupta, Director School Education, Jammu presided over the function. Nasreen Khan, Raj Bharti and Sakina Bano, Advisors Bharat Scouts & Guides were the Guests of Honour. On the occasion, scouts/guides presented Scouts/Guides stickers to dignitaries, VIPs, high officials and gracious supporters, as a token of applause. I D Soni, State Commissioner gave a brief of the importance of this day as it is day of introspection for all connected with the movement. Some Scouts and Guides and Scouters/Guiders also spoke on the importance of the day. During the programme, Dr Shri Ram Memorial Awards were conferred to year’s Best Scout Masters/Guide Captains namely Kulsama Nabi, Syed Mukhtar Ahmad Andrabi and Sameer Ahmed Bhat from Kashmir Division and Veena Vaid and Madan Mohan Sharma from Jammu Division. Medals of Merit were also presdented to Harbans Singh, Sunita Gupta and Renu Sharma by the chief guest. The Chief Guest Dr Rehman blessed Scouts and Guides and appreciated the steps being taken by this movement to spread a message of peace to every corner of the State. He also assured full support for spreading and expanding this excellent material in all Schools. Anuradha Gupta lauded the role of the movement in preparing young boys and girls for life, developing their character, awakening their spiritual adherence besdies creating spirit of service and sacrifice among them. M M Joshi, Public Relation Officer presented formal vote of thanks. The proceedings of the programme was done by Usha Chuni, H L Dogra and R P Kotwal. Others present on the occasion included Usha Chuni, Sehaj Singh, M M Joshi, M M Sharma, S K Jain, R P Kotwal, K L Sharma, Manjeet Kour, Bimla Handoo, Ashok Sharma, Harcharan Singh, Shampal Singh Slathia, Suresh Kumar, Harvinder Kour and Kanchan Sharma.
