STATE TIMES NEWS R.S PURA: A large number of farmers from Suchetgarh and R. S Pura constituencies gathered at the residence of senior Congress leader Ch. Gharu Ram Former Minister, J&K and Chairman All J&K Kissan Congress at R. S Pura on Friday and expressed their anguish over the destruction of world renowned Basmati Paddy due to hailstorms and rains resulting into 100 per cent loss of ready produce. They further stated that the Govt. had promised to double their input costs of crops but the rates fixed for the purchase of paddy are less than their input cost. They alleged that the Govt. has not provided any purchase centre in R. S. Pura and no Government authority has visited to estimate the losses for compensation. While addressing the Kissans, Gharu Ram told them that the present Govt. has failed to fulfill its promises of providing double income to the farmers who are at the verge of starvation. No assessment of losses have been worked out till now for giving them adequate compensation. Ch. Gharu Ram assured them that he will take up the matter with the concern authority for fulfilling the above given demands immediately. Kissan Congress, Sher Singh Chairman Kissan Congress Suchetgarh, Vice Chairmans of Suchetgarh namely Kasturi kumar Bhagat, Naresh Singh and Kari Singh, General Secretaries of Suchetgarh Nagar Singh, Bishan Dass and Des Raj.
