Hired flat without family’s knowledge
State Times News JAMMU: A 2004 batch KAS officer, Sushil Attri, also an alumnus of Government College of Engineering and Technology (1996 Mechanical Engineering) Jammu, was on Tuesday found hanging inside his newly hired flat in Ansal Grace Apartments in Sainik Colony area. “The body of Sushil Kumar Attri was found hanging with ceiling fan this afternoon. No suicide note or any other document was found,” Tejinder Singh, SSP Jammu said, adding inquest proceedings have been initiated into the case. Sushil Attri had recently posted a message on his social media page, “Life is a roller coaster ride n I have experienced it enough to handle it”. News of his suicide spread like wild fire soon after a girl raised an alarm after she found him hanging from a fan inside one of the rooms of his flat, on the third floor of the Daffodil Block in Ansal Apartments. Attri had taken this flat on rent without the knowledge of his family members.
According to sources, Attri had reportedly called his girl friend to his flat. She refused to come even after his repeated requests. Later, Sushil threatened her that he will commit suicide if she will not come. However, when she arrived at the flat, Sushil had hanged himself to death. On reaching the spot, police immediately summoned forensic teams and established contact with the wife and other family members of the deceased. The police also recorded statements of several persons and made inventory of his belongings. Police carried out thorough search of the apartment and lifted forensic samples. The officers carefully studied the scene, where the body of the KAS officer was found hanging in one of the rooms. A bed sheet was used for hanging with the ceiling fan. The body was shifted to the GMC for post-mortem. Attri is survived by father, mother, wife, two children and an elder brother. Police has also seized CCTV footage and efforts are on to identify the girl, who is also reportedly an officer in the J&K Government. Sushil’s family resides at Gangyal area while his both children are admitted in a boarding school outside the State. Sushil Attri, was currently posted as Deputy Director, ICDS, Jammu. Earlier, he served as Deputy Director, Publicity in Tourism Department and played vital role in promoting tourist destinations of the state during road shows and exhibitions and holding travel marts etc. His batch mates, faculty members and close friends while paying rich tributes to the KAS officer remembered him as a fitness freak and a dedicated officer who always remained in the forefront and served the interests of the common masses in his different capacities. His close relatives claimed he was very considerate and always tried to help others.
