JAMMU: To bring in vivacity and exuberance among women folk of Jammu through enchanting bunch of activities like informative and interactive sessions, Yoga, health talks, awareness programmes, entertainment bonanzas, demonstration classes and festival celebration in free and informal way, Sandhya Gupta, a leading personality of Jammu on Sunday launched ‘Meri Pehchan’, an exclusive club for women.
The day of inauguration was marked with felicitation of several women achievers who had made remarkable contribution in their respective fields. Those who were handpicked by Meri Pehchan for felicitation include Reeta Jitendra retired Principal of Women College, Nalini Kohli Principal GDC, Arti Thakur Sub Inspector, Monika Kohli Advocate, Veena Honda Executive of Amar Singh Club Jammu, Sunaina Mehta SDM Akhnoor, Suganda DySP Headqua-rters Jammu, Pooja Malhotra leading educationist and social activist, Sunniya Ashkoor Wani DySP, Anu Puri Divisional Commissioner of Sales Tax, Vandana Jojra House wife, Meena Jaggi President Innerwheel Club, Anita SHO Women Cell, and Anita Kumari Senior Executive J&K Bank and Executive of Amar Singh Club Jammu.
Sandhya apprised the guests that the idea of installing a club exclusively for women came into her mind after considering the dull, monotonous and suppressed life of women living in and around Jammu.
“I will try to bring out hidden talent of the common women to give them an opportunity to cherish womanhood and feel elated”, she asserted adding that politics, social activities and traditional kitty culture shall not be allowed to cast shadow on the activities of club.
Mamta Singh, wife of Deputy Chief Minister Dr Nirmal Singh appreciated the endeavour and asked for working together towards standing tall against all odds. She appreciated the idea and endorses that those, who excel in tough times are the real achievers. On the occasion several guests sought queries for becoming member of this club to celebrate the spirit of women.
