STATE TIMES NEWS LAKHANPUR: The Excise Department on Sunday seized 4,625 bottles of banned drug at Toll Post, Lakhanpur. According to reports, on the intervening night of June 22 and 23, the officials of Excise Department recovered 4,625 bottles of banned drug (Codeine Phosphate) from two trucks bearing registration No JK08E-3535 and JK03E-2085 at Toll Post Lakhanpur. The whole operation was carried out under the supervision of Deputy Excise Commissioner, Toll Post Lakhanpur, Ashish Gupta along with Excise and Taxation Officers Rohit Sharma, Sandeep Gupta and Sajjad Ahmed Sofi, Inspectors, Javed Iqbal, Dheeraj Kumar and Varun Chandan, Sub-Inspectors Kanwaljeet Shan, Aaqib Malik, Jugal Kishore and Sahil Choudhary and Guards Davinder Singh, Sohan Lal, Nihal Singh and Naveen Sharma. “The seized truck bearing registration No JK03E-2085 was declared loaded with tiles and empty crates while another truck bearing registration No JK08E-3535 was declared load with trade goods,” an officials of Excise Department said. M Raju, Excise Commissioner J&K, while appreciating the efforts of Excise team of Toll Post Lakhanpur for its sustained enforcement efforts in the area, has enjoined upon them to carry on such drives to thwart the nefarious design of drugs smugglers in future also.
