Topographically Jammu and Kashmir is a mountainous region with lot of natural resources of fresh water like lakes, spring, waterfalls, rivers and ponds etc. The perennial tributaries of Indus are continuously flowing in this region carrying lot of fresh water every year. The vegetation and crops of the region mostly depends upon rain water. Last year the entire northern region of the country including Jammu and Kashmir has got a considerable amount of rains. The mountainous region has got plenty of rains and snow. This is a good gesture for the natural vegetation of the region. The precipitation has increased at great extent. All the natural resources are now full with water and all the mountain caps are now covered with snow. But the farmers of the region has their own issues and problems. Some farmers like fruit growers of the Kashmir region are happy with this excessive snow like condition. Moreover, continuous snowfall on the mountains and other tourists destination provide an opportunity of tourism business. No doubt maximum rain has various positive impact on the vegetation of the region. Also it is suitable for increasing the water level in plains. But due to this heavy and frequent rain in the region lot of people including farmers of Jammu region has suffered a lot. We know that nowadays there is season of wheat and other cereals growing in the region. But due to heavy and untimely rain mostly farmers have not got any opportunity to sow their crop. Also the crop which is in nourishing stage suffers at large due to heavy rain in the region. Also due to heavy avalanches many precious lives has been lost so far in various incidences. The fertile soil get wasted away by the heavy current of water in these region. The wheat growing areas of Jammu region has been suffering from untimely and heavy rains since many days. Even the already sown crop has received a major damage .There is an urgent need to provide some kind of compensation or relief to those farmers whose cultivated land get damage in recent rains and winds. However there are some positive aspects of this excessive rain in Jammu and Kashmir. As per research it is found that the forest cover area has increased at considerable extent in Jammu and Kashmir. Moreover due to ban on hunting and other restrictions on protected areas the flora and fauna of the union territory has changed. Number of species of wild animals has increased at rapid rate. Also the number of various extinct species of animals and plants has increased by these restrictions and ban. Forest cover area has also increased on hilly regions of the Jammu and Kashmir. But due to flash floods and heavy rain, problem of soil erosion and landslides increased in many regions. There is dire necessity to make control over the flow of fertile land of farmers. Special kind of checks and barriers are needed on priority basis to maintain the beauty of this region. Rain is necessary for the well being of every living creature on this earth. Due to this increased level of precipitation and absorption of water the water level in plains will be effected in coming summer. Also due to maximum absorption of this ground water the vegetation will flourish in coming summer. It will also give a boost to beekeeping industry of the region of Jammu and Kashmir. Because there is an ample opportunity of surviving of flowering plants. This will also give a boost to the tourists business. Because there are lot of tourist destinations of scenic beauty in Jammu and Kashmir. By giving timely help to our needy farmers at this crucial juncture we can give a sigh of relief and happiness to our needy and suffer farmers of the union territories. As we know this region is already suffering from many other basic problems of public interest. Militancy and cross border firing on our borders are continuously disturbing the life of our farmers and their crops. Sometime due to cross border firing and shelling the standing crops of our poor farmers receive maximum damage. Jammu region has very fertile land for the growing of vegetables and seasonal fruits.
