STATE TIMES NEWS SAMBA: Army organised an ex-servicemen rally for its Veterans and potential retirees at Samba Military Station under the aegis Gurj Division on Saturday. The event inaugurated by GOC, Gurj Division, was attended by large number of military and civil dignitaries and several hundred Veterans & potential retires of Samba district. DRZ North in its endeavour to spread awareness through its outreach pgme about various central and state welfare schemes for veterans established its awareness stall at the Samba ESM Rally. The Joint Director Resettlement while addressing the gathering emphasised on the need for exploring various entrepreneurial options under PMEGP and EDI sponsored schemes. The rally besides providing entrepreneurial and resettlement option, was another step to extend welfare schemes of the Indian Army and government to Veterans, Veer Naris and their families. While addressing the gathering, The Chief Guest acknowledged & appreciated the yeomen service of the soldier during their service and assured that army and government were sensitive to the needs of the Ex-servicemen and would take all steps to ensure Veterans, Widows and Veer Naris of their families are adequately cared for and looked after in a befitting manner. Various agencies from the Army, State Govt& Private Sector including banks established stalls to render assistance and spread awareness on pension, placement, rehabilitation & recruitment to resolve the problems of veterans. During the interaction with the organisers, the attendees expressed their sincere gratitude for the efforts being taken by the Army to reach out to them and address their concerns through various forums.
