Srinagar: While a former Public Prosecutor was shot dead in Pinjoora village of south Kashmir’s Shopian district late Sunday night, reports pouring in from the Valley said that a civilian, alleged to be a surrendered militant, was killed in north Kashmir.
An official said that unknown gunmen barged into the home of Advocate Imtiyaz Ahmad of Pinjoora village and opened fire on him.
He was declared dead on arrival at a nearby health facility, said the official.
According to reports, Rashid Billa, allegedly a surrendered militant, was shot dead inside his home in Hajin area of north Kashmir’s Baramulla district late night.
Quoting sources, the reports said that militants barged into Billa’s home and opened indiscriminate fire, killing him on the spot.
Meanwhile, terrorists hurled a petrol bomb at CRPF party in Srinagar and attacked another batch of security forces at Shopian while they were out to nab militants in Jammu and Kashmir’s Shopian district, police said.
After the firing, the militants managed to give security forces a slip taking advantage of mob violence, a police spokesman said.
A civilian was hit by a bullet in the incident, though it was not known whether he was injured in firing by militants or the security forces.Acting on a specific input about the presence of militants in Heff village of Shopian, a cordon and search operation was launched by security forces, the spokesman said.
The militants fired upon the security forces and later escaped taking advantage of the mob which had assembled there, he said.
Later, it was learnt that one person has received a bullet injury in his shoulder and was admitted to Pulwama district hospital, the spokesman said.
His condition is stated to be stable, he said, adding the police are investigating the matter.
According to another report, a petrol bomb was hurled at a CRPF party during the day in Rainawari area here but no one was hurt in the incident, police said.
Some miscreants threw a petrol bomb at a Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) party which exploded on the road side near one of their vehicles, a police official said.
He said no one was injured in the incident. However, tarpaulin of the vehicle suffered minor damage, the official said.
