STATE TIMES NEWS LEH: Adventure seekers, athletes and jawans from all over the country participated in a run for fun named ‘Ek Daud Shaheedon Ke Naam’ organised on Thursday to commemorate the 20th anniversary of Kargil Vijay Diwas to pay tributes to the martyrs. The event was organised by the Leh based Fire & Fury Corps of the army and approximately 3,000 participants from Army, Indian Air Force, Para Military, Civil Administration, veterans, school children and other volunteers participated. The run held in the picturesque and challenging terrain of Leh-Ladakh was flagged off from Colonel Sonam Wangchuk MVC Stadium by Lt Gen Y.K Joshi, GOC Fire & Fury Corps. The run after covering a distance of three kilometres culminated at NDS Stadium, Leh. The route for the run was through the ancient city of Leh and provided a glimpse of this historic location. The run saw large participation by people from all walks of life and also helped in commemorating the sacrifices of the brave soldiers who overcame seemingly insurmountable odds, hostile terrain, weather and an enemy occupying dominating heights, to win the Kargil war.
